Here at Portuguese Language Lessons, we believe the magic of language happens between people. AI cannot explain the context of a local joke, unpack bizarre idioms, or give you the clever memory tricks needed to distinguish between pães (breads), pais (parents), and país (country).
We do not pretend that Portuguese is an easy language to master. However, our past students are living proof that it is entirely possible.
Think about how you interact with locals. Using a translation app might get you out of a stressful scrape at the finanças or the bank, but it will not help you make friends. Nobody likes having a phone thrust in front of them as an intermediary.
On the other hand, an imperfect but warm, "Bom dia, estou a tentar aprender português" (Good morning, I am trying to learn Portuguese) will almost always earn you a smile and a genuinely helpful response.
